Leadership is a new option for Fifth Column this year. Through the Wellington Leading for Impact Programme this term we have considered the importance of values in leadership and the key motivational and self-regulatory systems of the brain. We have looked at the impact of stress on the brain and the benefits of oxytocin for leaders. We analysed what Dacher Keltner calls the ‘power paradox’ before learning how to be a leadership coach.
The pupils have been working towards a Wellington Leadership Institute Certificate or Diploma of Leadership. Quality assurance for this programme is provided by the Department of Education at the University of Oxford.
